Kander & Ebb's last show finally being mounted
Intrepid Annette pointed me to this story. There are casting updates for and impending production of Kander & Ebb's last collaboration, Curtains. Sounds like fund, as it's a Murder Mystery set backstage during a pre-Broadway run of a musical. Hmmm. Drawn from life?
Many a Broadway stalwart is making the trip to L.A for the production, including personal faves Jason Danieley and Karen Ziemba. And apparently David Hyde Pierce has decided he likes the theatre post-Frasier, because he's set to star.
42nd St. Moon is doing two of Kander & Ebb's older works this season, Flora the Red Menace and Zorba, but as you can see they were still actively at it decades down the road from these shows.

Just came across your posting regarding Curtains. Indeed, I'm off to LA this weekend to see the show (although I'm not sure whether I'd be considered one of the "many a stalwart"). I'm excited to see the show.
Sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you on the show -- I loved it! I also posted a review at http://steveonbroadway.blogspot.com/2006/08/curtains-sob-review-ahmanson-theatre.html. I think this will be a huge Broadway smash.
Great and oh, so detailed review. I love that you mention the past work of even the set designer! Sounds dreamy :)
